Everything you need to know before visiting the Pocono Mountains' most iconic natural wonder.
Often hailed as "The Niagara of Pennsylvania," Bushkill Falls is a privately owned 300-acre natural park nestled deep within the Pocono Mountains.
Open since 1904, it features an extraordinary network of elevated wooden catwalks, footbridges, suspension bridges, and stone-cut paths that wind through deep gorges surrounded by hemlock forests and rushing mountain waters.
Bushkill Falls features four distinct trails accommodating varying physical ability levels, fitness conditions, and available timeframes. All trails begin at the central park entrance.
Direct, scenic walk to the Main Falls Overlook. No climbing involved; minimal steps. Ideal for casual strollers and small children.
The most popular route. Takes you from the top of the Main Falls down to the canyon floor, viewing Lower Gorge Falls, Laurel Glen, and Upper Canyon.
Extends past the Yellow Trail into deeper woods to showcase Pennell Falls and tranquil wooded ravines. Involves substantial staircase climbing.
The definitive expedition. Covers all 8 waterfalls, bridal paths, deep canyon crossings, and over 1,200 wooden steps. Suitable for active hikers.
Certain trails or elevated bridges may close temporarily during heavy rain or icy conditions.
Major credit cards accepted at ticket booths, gift shops, and snack stands.
Footwear: Sturdy, closed-toe sneakers or hiking shoes with strong grip are essential. Boardwalks get misty and slippery.
Strollers & Wheelchairs: Not permitted on trails. The terrain consists of rustic staircases, cliff walkways, and natural rocks.
Restrooms: Located exclusively at the park entrance plaza. None exist along the gorge trail system.
Pet Policy: Leashed dogs are permitted on trails. Owners must pick up after their pets and carry water for them.
Picnic Grounds: Dedicated picnic areas are located outside the trail entrance. Grilling is not permitted.
Trail Restrictions: Swimwear, coolers, single-use plastic bags, alcohol, and drones are strictly prohibited on the trails.
Bushkill Falls is located just approximately 10 minutes from our estate grounds. We recommend starting early at 9:00 AM on summer or October weekends to beat the midday trail traffic and enjoy the gorge in peaceful morning serenity.
